The Tobacco Basslet is alternately referred to as the Tobacco Fish, or Tobacco Bass and is found within the Western Atlantic. The body is lighter gray at the lower part and is an emerald and silver mottled pattern on the top, separated between them with an orange stripe. This basslet is an extremely tough species of fish and is best in a fish-only aquarium or in the aquarium for reef fish. Use care the larger Tobacco Basslets could be a danger to smaller crustaceans and other fish particularly tiny damselfish, tiny gobies, and blennies. One individual must be kept within a minimum 70 gallon tank. Keeping more than one needs at least one hundred and fifty gallon. But there is a chance that Tobacco Fish may try to take on smaller fish of the same species. Therefore, it is recommended to bring Tobacco Basslets into the aquarium simultaneously if you plan to keep a smaller group. The Tobacco Basslet is the only member of the Serranus Genus. The Tobacco Basslet is hermaphroditic. Tobacco Basslet is a carnivore. Tobacco bass will thrive on the diet of meaty foods like freshly chopped frozen or fresh marine fish mysis shrimp, brine enriched shrimp, and frozen carnivore recipes.
