Anacropora are often lumped in with similar SPS corals such as Acropora or Montipora but exist in their own Genus. Anacropora can be thought of as a cross between thin branching Acropora such as Acropora echinata or Acropora lokani and the unique appearance of Montipora setosa. They are very fast growing and slightly more hardy than either Acropora or Montipora. Anacropora forbesi is often called "briar coral" due to its chaotic, tangled growth pattern. This rare specimen has an extremely bright florescent yellow body and polyps. Coral of this type are quite hardy and tolerant of high nutrient levels and turbid water flow. |
The Forest Green Acropora is so named because of the deep metallic green sheen it develops over its purple base. Moderate lighting and flow are required for long term care.
The Forest Fire Montipora digitata has bright red/orange polyps and either a light green or teal base. An excellent addition to any SPS reef.
