It is a relatively fast growing coral, and under the right conditions will spread across the rockwork in the aquarium. The polyps of these corals are very small, giving it a velvety appearance. Establish a colony of all three color forms - orange, green, and purple - around your reef for the most brilliant showcase display.Montipora are arguably the second most popular small polyp stony coral behind Acropora. Their popularity is well-deserved. Montipora are diverse in color and come in a multitude of growth forms. With just a little bit of searching, a reef hobbyist can find plating, encrusting, or branching varieties of Montipora in just about any texture or color. Montipora also tend to be easier to care for than Acropora making them more appealing to beginner hobbyists looking to try SPS for the first time.It will require medium lighting.In general you need medium water movement within the aquarium.It will also benefit from additional food fed weekly in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.The Encrusting Montipora Coral is peaceful and can be placed in close proximity to other similar peaceful corals in the reef aquarium. It is relatively easy to maintain, but should be housed in a mature reef aquarium.
