Feather Dusters aren't technically a coral, but they are sessile (stuck in one spot), filter feeding, beautiful and hardy. They are very appealing to the hobbyists due to their unique structure and fan-like cilias. Like any invert, they need higher salinity than fish do, and they don't tolerate copper at all. Most aquarists should have no problem keeping these alive in their aquarium with no special attention as feathers will usually get enough food from fish waste and fine food particles. Be sure to add them to well established aquariums. When stressed or frightened the Feather Duster will retract into its tube for protection. For best health and growth, weekly feedings with some kind of tiny food like zooplankton is recommended.
